Andrejs Levins is a traumatologist who performs Doppler and duplex ultrasound of the leg and arm vessels. He sees patients at our clinic in Purvciems.
About the doctor
Andrejs Levins has worked in traumatology for more than 30 years. From 1994 he worked at Biķernieki Hospital (RAKUS) and the State Burn Centre as a trauma and burn surgeon, and in 2008–2017 he headed the centre, where he treated burns, frostbite, thermal injuries and electrical injuries. At our clinic the doctor performs Doppler and duplex ultrasound of the arteries and veins of the legs and arms: he assesses arterial and venous blood flow and the patency of the vessels, and helps to detect vascular problems at an early stage. His experience in traumatology and orthopaedics allows him to see the whole picture and take into account the link between vascular and musculoskeletal conditions. The doctor explains the result after the examination and answers your questions.

Why Doppler ultrasound is calm and safe
Doppler ultrasound is an ultrasound scan of the vessels: the doctor sees how the blood flows through them and can tell whether there are any narrowings, circulation problems or other changes. The examination is simple and safe.
- No radiation. Only sound waves, so the examination is harmless.
- Painless. You lie on a couch while the doctor moves the probe over your legs or arms.
- Quick. The doctor explains the result right after the examination and answers your questions.
When to book an appointment
It is worth booking Doppler ultrasound of the leg or arm vessels if:
- you have swelling of the legs;
- you feel heaviness or pain in your legs, including when walking;
- you have varicose veins;
- you sometimes have numbness in your arms or legs;
- a circulation problem in the limbs is suspected;
- you need follow-up over time or monitoring of treatment effectiveness;
- a doctor has recommended the examination after an injury or surgery.
