Maya Dzirgause's path is that of a classic neurologist: medical institute, internship in neurology, residency. Over many years of practice her main focus has become vascular diseases of the brain and disorders of cerebral circulation.
At appointments the doctor takes the vascular side of your complaints into account: what the blood supply of the head and neck depends on and what can be done to prevent complications. Patients come to her for stroke prevention and for follow-up after vascular surgery.
If necessary, the doctor can add Doppler ultrasound of the head and neck vessels to the consultation and explain the result.

If the examination is needed, the doctor orders or performs it. You lie on a couch while the doctor moves a probe over your neck and head.

What to bring with you. An appointment for one patient takes about 30 minutes. So that the doctor can assess your situation more accurately and see changes over time, prepare reports from your neurologist and other doctors, previous Doppler ultrasound and vascular ultrasound reports, MRI or CT results of the head (if you have had them) and discharge summaries from medical institutions.
