Oncologist-Chemotherapist
An oncologist specializes in the detection and treatment of benign or malignant tumors. The doctor investigates the causes of tumor development and its mechanisms, while also warning about the risks of precancerous conditions. If a disease is identified, our specialist develops an individualized therapy plan.
There are several symptoms that, if noticed, should prompt an immediate visit to an oncologist:
- Unexplained significant weight loss without changes in lifestyle.
- Discovery of skin growths, especially with noticeable changes in color or size, or recent trauma to a growth.
- Breast tumors or enlarged lymph nodes.
- Frequent unexplained fevers or elevated body temperature.
- Headaches, dizziness, fainting, as well as coordination, hearing, or vision disturbances.
- Unusual discharge from the rectum or breasts, or unexplained diarrhea.
- Sudden deterioration of overall well-being, loss of appetite, and in some cases, nausea without associated gastrointestinal issues.
- Discomfort in a specific organ – pressure in the chest, throat, pelvic, or abdominal area.
- Any signs indicating internal organ bleeding (frequent nosebleeds, blood from the genitals, blood in stool or urine).
People in high-risk groups should also visit an oncologist:
- Women over 45 years old should see an oncologist at least once a year. Men aged 45 to 50 are also recommended to visit annually.
- Visits are advised for those with liver cirrhosis, mastopathy, or intestinal polyposis.
- Individuals with blood relatives who have had cancer.
- Workers in industries harmful to health are also at risk.
- Excessive tanning (in solariums or the sun) and smoking are additional reasons to consult an oncologist.
Tumors can develop in any tissue or organ of the human body, and different localized tumors require various treatment approaches.
