Ultrasound (USG)
Ultrasound (US) is one of the most important diagnostic methods for diseases of the internal organs, the musculoskeletal system, and soft tissues. It is a safe, fast (15–20 minutes), and highly informative examination that has no contraindications and does not cause harmful effects on the body. At Grand Medical, modern equipment is used to ensure precise imaging, allowing pathologies to be detected at early stages and effective treatment to be prescribed.
We also perform ultrasound examinations for children aged 6 and older. 👉 More information

🔍 What Ultrasound Can Assess
Ultrasound allows the physician to thoroughly examine:
- the structure and size of internal organs (liver, kidneys, gallbladder, pancreas, etc.);
- the condition of soft tissues, salivary glands, thyroid gland, and mammary glands;
- pelvic organs, scrotum, and prostate gland;
- the musculoskeletal system and soft tissues (joints, muscles, tendons);
- the presence of inflammation, tumors, cysts, or stones.
💡 Indications for Ultrasound
Ultrasound is recommended for the diagnosis and monitoring of various conditions, including:
- gallstones or bladder stones;
- congenital or acquired organ abnormalities;
- changes in the shape, function, or structure of tissues and organs;
- inflammatory processes;
- benign or malignant tumors, cysts.
Regular ultrasound examinations help adjust therapy and prevent complications.
❤️ Recommendations for Patients
Specialists recommend having an ultrasound at least once a year, especially if:
- there is a family history of internal organ diseases;
- you experience abdominal pain, digestive issues, or urinary problems;
- there are swellings, lumps, or skin changes;
- you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy (ultrasound is completely safe).
🛡️ Special Importance for Certain Groups
Ultrasound is particularly important for patients after abdominal surgery, those with chronic conditions (such as cholecystitis or pyelonephritis), or during the rehabilitation period. Regular monitoring helps detect recurrences in a timely manner and adjust treatment.
📝 Preparation for Ultrasound
Preparation depends on the type of examination, but overall the procedure is simple. It is recommended to:
- bring previous test and examination results for a complete clinical picture;
- for abdominal ultrasound — avoid food for 5–6 hours before the visit (medications may be taken with water);
- for bladder ultrasound — drink 1 liter of water one hour before the procedure;
- in other cases, no special preparation is required (only avoid gas-producing foods the day before).
Tip: If you are planning to undergo a check-up program at our clinic, ultrasound can be included as part of a comprehensive examination.
