Ultrasound examinations can also be done on pregnant women, as it does not affect the patient’s health in any way. With the help of ultrasound, visual images of internal organs can be obtained, aiding in diagnosis and determining the causes of illnesses. The advantage of ultrasound examinations is the safety of the procedure. Since this examination is entirely painless, it is well suited for patients who are afraid of doctors, as nothing painful or unpleasant happens during the ultrasound examination. What can an ultrasound examination reveal?

When should ultrasound not be performed?

Ultrasound is a completely harmless and painless procedure that can be performed on pregnant women and children. If necessary, this procedure can be performed several times, as it has no negative impact on the body.

How long does ultrasound take?

The examination usually takes 15-20 minutes. However, it is advisable to arrive at the medical center at least 10 minutes before the appointment to register. Don’t forget to bring a form of identification. After that, the doctor will examine you, and you can prepare for the examination. The total visit time could be approximately 30 minutes.

How to prepare for ultrasound?

Bring any previous examinations or test results with you, if available, so the doctor can review your medical history. Preparation for ultrasound depends on the type of examination. For abdominal organ examinations, do not eat or drink for at least 5 hours before the procedure. If you take medication, you can take them with a small amount of water. If a bladder examination is planned, drink 1 liter of water one hour before the ultrasound.
