Doppler examination of the head and neck blood vessels is an ultrasound examination that allows the assessment of blood flow in the arteries and veins. This method is based on the Doppler effect, which allows visualizing blood movement, measuring blood flow speed, and detecting possible abnormalities, such as vascular narrowing or blockage.

When should you have Dopplerography of the neck and head blood vessels?

6. Preventive examinations: If you are over 40 years old, once a year, or if you have risk factors (smoking, overweight).

When should Dopplerography not be performed?

Dopplerography is completely harmless and painless, and can also be performed on pregnant women and children. If necessary, this procedure can be performed multiple times, as it has no negative impact on the body. If the patient has a chronic vascular disease, they should take the previously prescribed medications as usual before and after the examination. No special preparation is required for this procedure.

How long does this examination take?

The examination itself usually takes 15-20 minutes. However, it is advisable to arrive at the medical center at least 10 minutes before the appointment to register. After that, the doctor will examine you, and you can prepare for the examination. The total visit time could be approximately 30 minutes. Don’t forget to bring an identification document, such as an ID card or passport.
